2. Forbes names Angkor Empire Marathon among top global races
Forbes Travel Guide named the Angkor Empire Marathon one of 12 global marathons worth traveling for in 2026, highlighting its route through Angkor Wat, temples, forests, and villages. The 11th edition on August 2 offers 42km, 21km, 10km, and 3km races in Siem Reap’s UNESCO site, placing it alongside events like Boston and Great Wall marathons.

3. Cambodia to join Trump’s Board of Peace, prime minister says
Cambodia will join U.S. President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, the country’s prime minister Hun Manet said in a Facebook post. Joining the board demonstrates Cambodia’s goodwill and strong commitment to global peace.

4. Kingdom earns $3.7 billion from tourism in 2025
Cambodia’s tourism sector earned $3.7 billion in revenue in 2025, up three percent compared to a year before; however, the Kingdom received 5.6 million international tourists last year, down 16.9 percent from 6.7 million in the year before, the report noted.

5. Cambodia’s Banking, Financial Institutions Grow Credit by 4.1% in 2025
Cambodia’s banks reported 4.1% lending growth to $63B in outstanding loans, with deposits up 14.7% to $65.7B and total assets rising 9.7% to $98.7B.
NPLs increased to 8.9% from 7.4%, yet credit expansion supported MSMEs amid economic challenges. The sector includes 59 commercial banks and 30.6M deposit accounts, underscoring its key role in economic activity.

6. Over 530,000 Displaced Persons Return Home, About 113,000 Still Displaced
Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior reported on Jan 27 that 992 more displaced persons returned home since the Jan 26 ceasefire, bringing the total reintegrated to ~530,000 (82% of 640,000+ initially displaced). About 113,000 remain in camps, including 59,159 women and 37,088 children, as resettlement efforts continue.

7. Government Extends Vital Stamp Duty Exemptions to Propel Cambodian Real Estate Sector through 2026
The Cambodian government has extended stamp duty exemptions on residential property purchases until December 31, 2026 to support housing affordability and sustain the real estate and construction sectors. Under the policy, homes priced at or below USD 70,000 receive a full 4% stamp duty waiver, while properties priced between USD 70,000 and USD 210,000 benefit from a USD 70,000 deduction from the taxable base.

8. 2025 customs revenue exceeds target by almost 25%
In 2025, stronger trade activity helped Cambodia collect over $3 billion in customs revenue, exceeding the budget target by about 25% and nearing pre-Covid levels. The increase was driven by higher imports for investment and exports, along with better tax enforcement. For 2026, the government targets around $3 billion in customs revenue.

9. Cambodia registers 9,065 electric cars as of 2025
Cambodia had registered 9,065 electric cars by 2025, along with 3,203 electric motorcycles and 700 electric three-wheelers, reflecting growing adoption of EVs. The most popular brands are China’s BYD, Japan’s Toyota and the US’s Tesla.

10. US trade deficit with Asia expands despite Trump tariffs
