  1. Singapore’s Energy Market Authority agrees to import ‘low carbon’ electricity from Cambodia

The electricity from solar energy, hydropower, and potentially wind power, supported by battery energy storage systems or pumped storage hydropower, will be transmitted from Cambodia to Singapore via new subsea cables of more than 1,000km. Keppel Energy was granted approval to import 1 gigawatt (GW) of electricity from Cambodia to the country.

  1. Chinese-invested tire factory in Cambodia goes into operation

The $300-million General Tire Technology (Cambodia) factory, located in Cambodia’s coastal province of Preah Sihanouk, is a subsidiary of Chinese tire maker Jiangsu General Science Technology and has already launched its operation. The 11-square-km industrial zone is the Southeast Asian country’s largest industrial zone in terms of size and occupancy.

Chinese infrastructure firm, CHINA METRO GROUP, has sent representatives to Cambodia to study the country’s transportation infrastructure development plans, particularly in the city.

  1. Construction of Khmer-Thai Stueng Bat International Border Checkpoint 82% Complete

The construction of the Stueng Bat-Ban Nong Ean border checkpoint, a joint project between the governments of Cambodia and Thailand, is now 82% complete. The Stueng Bat-Ban Nong Ean border checkpoint aims to alleviate traffic congestion at the Poipet border gate, which is the largest and most important traffic flow between Cambodia and Thailand.

  1. Coal-powered power plant in Oddar Meanchey to open soon

The coal-powered electricity in Trapeang Prasat district is planned to operate in the near future, but the supply will be to Siem Reap and then to the substation in Samrong to supply Oddar Meanchey.

  1. Phnom Kravanh National Park can provide about 20% of the total electricity for Cambodia 

Phnom Kravanh National Park is considered as Cambodia’s giant bump motors and battery chargers, as it contains the potential to generate around 20% of the country’s total electricity from its water resources. There are more than 22 major rivers, plus hundreds of small streams and lakes as the source of water. Those natural resources are transformed to be hydropower dams with a total capacity of approximately 20 per cent of the country’s total electricity capacity.

  1. A new road connecting Bokor National Park and NR4 reached 52km

The road connecting Bokor Mountain to NR at km 158 + 200, which passes through the economic land concession of Okhna Mong Reththy’s palm plantation, will provide easier access to the popular tourist destination of Bokor Mountain. A new road connecting Monivong Bokor National Park to NR No. 4 is now been cleared for 52 kilometers and only 9 kilometers away from completion.
